Your 4-Day Bothell Itinerary for Labor Day Weekend

Didn't get around to booking a big Labor Day trip? Good news: one of the best long weekends in the Pacific Northwest is waiting for you just 20 minutes north of Seattle, and it's not too late to grab it. Bothell gives you small-town charm, a river trail, a great restaurant scene, and a straight shot into Seattle Center for Bumbershoot. Here's how to spend four days doing it right.

Friday Night: Settle In

Start by picking a home base. Bothell has a solid lineup of hotels along the 405 corridor, most a short walk or drive from downtown and the river trail — worth locking in now, since Labor Day weekend books up fast even this close to the date. Check in, drop your bags, and get the weekend started.

For dinner, you've got two easy, excellent choices within short range of most downtown lodging:

After dinner, skip the car and take a stroll. Downtown Bothell and the riverfront path along the Sammamish River are made for an easy evening amble — public art, water views, and a good preview of the town before you explore it properly tomorrow.

Saturday: Bothell Day

Consider this the day to slow down and let Bothell show off.

Morning: Grab coffee at Caffe Ladro, then hit the Sammamish River Trail on foot or by bike. It's flat, shaded, and connects directly into downtown, so there's no reason to rush back.

Afternoon: Wander the Main Street shopping strip — local boutiques, gift shops, and enough variety to fill a few unhurried hours.

Evening: Two patio-worthy options depending on your mood:

Whichever you choose, it's a short trip back to your room after — no designated driver logistics, no late-night rideshare surge.

Sunday: Bumbershoot Day Trip

Seattle Center is about 20–30 minutes from Bothell without traffic, and Bumbershoot runs a park-and-ride shuttle system if you'd rather skip parking downtown entirely — worth checking their site for current shuttle lots.

Bumbershoot 2026 takes over Seattle Center September 5–6, marking the festival's 53rd year, with Turnstile headlining Saturday and Death Cab for Cutie — Seattle's own — closing out Sunday. The rest of the bill spans Japanese Breakfast, Orville Peck, De La Soul, Sudan Archives, and dozens more, alongside the festival's usual mix of visual art installations, comedy sets, food vendors, and film programming. It's less a concert and more a full campus of things to wander into.

Plan for a full day on your feet — multiple stages, plenty of walking, and easy opportunities to stumble into something great.

The tip that makes this whole itinerary work best: head back to Bothell to unwind instead of fighting festival traffic out of the city. Side Hustle Local or The Shed at McMenamins are exactly the kind of low-key, close-to-home spots you want after a day of crowds and music — and your bed is minutes away after a long day.

Monday: Easy Exit Day

No need to rush out. Soak it all in on your last morning in Bothell:

The bottom line: Bumbershoot may get you to Seattle, but Bothell gives you somewhere better to land — both nights and in between. Small-town pace, big-festival access, all in one long weekend. Take a load off and join in on the fun in Bothell.
