Bumbershoot — the largest music and arts festival in the Pacific Northwest — is back this Labor Day weekend.
The festival name is derived from a slang term for umbrella in the hopes that by amplifying the diverse artistic community that calls the Pacific Northwest home, we realize we’re all under the same umbrella.
Embark on a journey filled with creative talents across music, art shows, speakers, exhibitions, and food while the festival runs from August 31 to September 1 at the Seattle Center.
Offering an eclectic musical lineup, attendees can anticipate everything from indie to rock to hip-hop, electronic to folk, and everything in between. Headliners for this year's festival include Pavement, Cypress Hill, James Blake, and Marc Rebillet.
With multiple stages hosting simultaneous performances, attendees can curate their experience and explore other acts, which include Carl Cox, Freddie Gibbs, Cunningham / Bird, Aly & AJ, St. Paul and the Broken Bones, Thee Sacred Souls, Courtney Barnett, Kurt Vile and the Violators, BADBADNOTGOOD, and Kim Gordon.
Explore the wonderful world of art. From pro wrestling to indigenous fashion, Bumbershoot offers an array of talents and interests aimed at nurturing creativity. Art installations and interactive displays transform the festival grounds into a mystical wonderland, including Out of Sight, Recess District, Comedy Dome, Animation District, Century 21 District, BTV, Songs for Space, Wig Farm, Fashion District, IYKYK Exhibit, Pole Pavillion, Bumbermania, and more.
Catering to foodies, the festival lines up gourmet food trucks and stalls representing cuisines from around the globe. Dip into some locally sourced ice cream with Shug’s or appease all of your senses when you feast on MexiCuban, no matter what you are craving Bumbershoot is likely to have something to satisfy your appetite.
