I've been on a Rousanne kick lately! I purchased this bottle of Otis Kenyon 2018 Rousanne when I was last at totalwine ➡️ 14.1% abv ➡️ Deep gold color ➡️ Full body There's a nice light aroma of Meyer lemon, apricot, and beewax. Apricot, cheesecake, and chamomile roll over the tongue. This wine has a deliciously rich mouthfeel. I had intended on saving this one for Thanksgiving but I just couldn't resist myself! Due to the new restrictions in Washington state, we are changing our hours of operation and only offering outdoor tastings and curbside pickup. Starting Wednesday, November 18 we will be open Wednesday – Sunday 11AM – 5PM for outdoor tastings for groups of up to 5 people. We encourage you to make a reservation if you plan to do a tasting, but will have walk-in tastings depending on availability. Our grounds will remain open to walk-in visitors and you do not need a reservation for this. We will still continue to have carryout sales in our tasting room with capacity limited to 25%. Curbside pickup is available including wine, meal kits and a food menu 7 days a week from 11AM – 5PM. The husband and I finally went to the new sparkman_cellars winery... it did not disappoint! The location is beautiful and the wines were fantastic! 🍷 • We did two different tasting flights (to share) so we could taste a bunch of different wines and ended up buying a bottle of the Wonderland Grenache & the Holler Cabernet Sauvignon after trying 9 different wines! 🤗 • I cannot recommend this family-owned winery enough. I know that we have new COVID restrictions going into effect here in Washington so order some wine from Sparkman, pick it up, and bring home to enjoy! According to their website, "The tarot card, Three of Cups, symbolizes conviviality, abundance, joy and friendship – all things that happen naturally with wine." The grapes for their wine comes from the Red Mountain and Walla Walla regions of Washington State. All of their red wines are aged in oak while their white wines are aged in stainless steel. Our favorite wine from them is their rosé! It has notes of pomegranate, roses, and strawberries. 🥣 Happy National Gumbo Day y’all! Now I know that in some places this isn’t a big deal. Some folks may not even know what gumbo is. But in my neck of the woods, a pot of gumbo is always worthy of a celebration. Mr. Corkscrew hails from south Louisiana and it’s an even bigger deal for him! 🥂And now the wine! Cause it’s always about wine! 🤷🏽♀️ Back in the day, I would pop open an ice cold beer 🍻 to have with my gumbo. But given then I don’t drink beer much anymore, you know I HAD to find a wine for my gumbo. It took some trial and error, but I have found that a Bordeaux Blanc style wine is a great pairing. But you need both the Sauvignon Blanc and the Semillon for the pairing to work. 🥂Cue this fantastic Chaleur Blanc from DeLille Cellars. I visited the winery a few years ago and it was one of those places where I literally bought at least one of EVERY WINE I tasted as well as some I didn’t! My blog post on that WA wine visit is by far THE MOST READ post on the entire blog! 🥂DeLille Cellars has been making their Chaleur Blanc for quite a while now. In fact, this is their 25th vintage of this wine! I’ve always been a fan - it was even one of my WINES OF THE YEAR in 2019! This one is 69% Sauvignon Blanc and 31% Semillon. I lean very much to the tropical fruit side when it comes to my Sauv Blanc and this one provides tropical and stone fruits (peach and apricot) balanced by bright acidity and . Rich and nicely textured it provides both a comparison and contrast to the gumbo. And let me tell you, I fell in love! 🙌🏼 💞🍷The romance began with the electrifying burst of fresh fruits, florals, silky tannins ( in reds), with perfect levels of acidity and a beautiful finish on my palate. I tasted wines from Columbia Valley, Yakima Valley, Walla Walla Valley, Horse Heaven Hills & Red Mountain, through my visits to threeofcupswinery pomumcellars and covingtoncellars and they were all so elegant, smooth and well polished!! At pomumcellars I had the opportunity to go behind the curtain and take a look at some of the maceration 🍇that was going on. 😍 Washington State currently has 16 AVA’s and about 1000 wineries 😅 !
