Just ten minutes away from Bothell, you’ll find Washington’s premiere wine destination: Woodinville Wine Country. Here, you can sip your way through over 100 unique tasting rooms, all within walking distance, and still have more to explore during your next trip back.
Read on to learn about its four distinct districts, the most efficient and seamless way to get around Woodinville, and the best places to stay when visiting (hint: they’re in Bothell!).
With its bevy of restaurants, Woodinville’s Downtown District is the perfect place to begin or end your day of wine tasting. Stop by Molbak’s Garden Cafe, where they serve coffee, pastries, and a delicious menu that features high-quality, in-season ingredients from local farmers, or Lifted Taco, which offer innovative tacos (and housemade churro donuts!) you can’t find anywhere else.
The Downtown District is also the home to a number of murals and artwork, including the Peace Poles at DeYoung Park and sculptures at City Hall.
Head into the Warehouse District, where you’ll get more of a behind-the-wines look at how your favorite beverage is made. Here, you’ll find dozens of wineries — more boutique wineries per square foot than any wine region in the world! — that are buzzing with activity, especially during crush season.
We recommend visiting Patterson Cellars, where you can witness the crush action for yourself and taste the fruits of their labor. Tinte Cellars is also a great option, where you can catch the winery’s weekly live music series.
Named after the Hollywood Schoolhouse on its turf, the Hollywood District is where you’ll discover over 40 wine tasting rooms within walking distance from each other. The area features a mix of large and small wineries, so be sure to take your time and try both.
For a grander tasting room experience, visit DeLILLE Cellars, where you can sample Bordeaux-style blends (and eat at The Lounge, the winery’s cozy restaurant). For a more boutique experience, walk over to the Jaine Cottage, one of our favorite hidden gem wineries.
Round out your day with a pit stop at the West Valley District. The area is known for its more relaxed pace, with only half a dozen wineries and distilleries, so you can spend more time at each.
Woodinville-Redmond Road is where you’ll find a majority of the wineries, breweries, and distilleries. We love to sip and relax at Novelty Hill-Januik, an artisan winery with breathtakingly modern architecture.
