Seattle’s Sound Transit Link Light Rail has rapidly become an essential transportation network, offering a convenient and eco-friendly way to navigate the region. The system currently spans from Northgate to Angle Lake, with additional lines connecting Seattle to the Eastside and Tacoma. With modern trains, frequent service, and easy access to key destinations, the Link Light Rail makes exploring the Seattle area simple and efficient.
Link Light Rail Expansion
The Link Light Rail is undergoing significant expansions, further extending its reach across the Puget Sound region. The Lynnwood Link Extension, which opened in August of 2024, is particularly interesting to Bothell visitors and residents. This extension added four new stations — Shoreline South/145th, Shoreline North/185th, Mountlake Terrace, and Lynnwood City Center — connecting south Snohomish County to downtown Seattle and beyond. These new stations bring the light rail closer to Bothell, providing a more accessible and convenient option for those traveling or commuting to Seattle.
Notable Attractions
Riding the light rail gives you easy access to some of Seattle’s most popular attractions. From the vibrant Pike Place Market and historic Chinatown-International District to the iconic Space Needle at Seattle Center, the light rail serves as a gateway to the city’s cultural and entertainment hubs. Sports fans can catch a game at T-Mobile Park or Lumen Field, while art enthusiasts can explore the Seattle Art Museum or the Museum of Pop Culture, all just a short ride away. Sea-Tac Airport is easily accessible from the light rail, making getting to Bothell via air travel a breeze.
STart
In addition to its practical benefits, the Link Light Rail system also enriches the rider experience through the STart (Sound Transit Art) program. This initiative integrates art into the transit system, with each station featuring unique works by local artists. From large-scale sculptures to intricate murals, these artworks not only beautify the stations but also reflect the diverse communities they serve, making each trip an engaging and inspiring journey.
Getting There From Bothell
For Bothell residents, accessing the Link Light Rail is becoming increasingly convenient. The most straightforward route is to take a bus or drive to one of the new stations on the Lynnwood Link Extension. Bus routes from Bothell connect to the Lynnwood Transit Center, where you can easily transfer to the light rail. As the system continues to expand, getting to and from Seattle will only become easier, offering a seamless and sustainable way to travel.
