With over 100 tasting rooms across its four distinct districts, Woodinville Wine Country is a must-visit for wine lovers — especially when it’s only ten minutes away from Bothell!
It’s almost impossible to try all of the tasting rooms, so we rounded up some of the best wineries in Woodinville that are doing things a bit differently in their corners of the premier wine destination.
Insider tip: Our Sip & Stay package offers you complimentary Passports to Taste at select Woodinville Wine Country tasting rooms when you book a one- or two-night stay at a participating Bothell hotel! Sign up today and you can use your passports at JM Cellars, Novelty Hill-Januik Winery, Patterson Cellars, and more.
Sometimes two is better than one! Amavi Cellars and Pepper Bridge Winery are sister wineries from Walla Walla, WA that tout the same winemaker, Jean-François Pellet. Visit their joint tasting room, where you can taste wines from both family-owned wineries in one place.
Though Chateau Ste. Michelle is Washington State’s oldest winery, it keeps its winery experiences fresh!
The winery hosts its annual Summer Concert Series on its grounds, which has benefitted more than 400 non-profit organizations so far. Past artists to take the Chateau Ste. Michelle stage include Stevie Wonder, John Legend, and Sarah McLachlan.
But when it’s not summer, the winery offers other events, including a Riedel Sensory Tasting class, which teaches visitors about how the shape of wine glasses can alter wine-tasting experiences; pop-up tasting experiences; and tours of the grand estate.
Located in Woodinville’s Hollywood district, Gorman Winery is a “three-person” winery that focuses on Red Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah. If you’re in the mood for wine and a show, Gorman Winery features live music from local artists every Friday and Saturday.
Similar to Amavi Cellars and Pepper Bridge Winery, the Novelty Hill-Januik Tasting Room is made up of two independent wineries, both under the direction of Mike Januik, one of Washington State’s most acclaimed winemakers. Both craft excellent wines, but one of the ways they’ve set themselves apart from other Woodinville tasting rooms is the location’s excellent culinary program!
Headed by Chef Jason Northern, Novelty Hill-Januik serves up an innovative menu with farm-fresh ingredients from local farmers and their own garden. Oven-fired, handmade pizza is also made to order, exclusively during the weekend. And if that weren’t enough, the tasting room offers fun and original pairing programs, including potato chip and wine pairings!
JM Cellars makes delicious, limited-release wines, all for visitors to taste in their renowned Bramble Bump tasting room. Bramble Bump was once a 550-acre dairy farm before a part of it became an expansive garden in the 1960s and then a beautiful location for the winery’s tasting room in 2000.
Now, Bramble Bump is a seven-acre arboretum that’s open for visitors to explore, have weddings, and enjoy while visiting JM Cellars’ tasting room.
Get a behind-the-scenes look at how Patterson Cellars’ expert winemakers create their signature wines when you visit the winery’s Warehouse District location. You’ll get a glimpse of the winery’s intricate process before tasting the finished products in Patterson Cellars’ tasting room.
